Lesson Plans
Below are several lessons that I've completed as a part of my program at DSU. I will be adding more lessons to this page as I continue to develop lessons from my classroom field experiences and student teaching.
Graphing Linear Equations
Algebra I |
I developed this lesson during my 6-12 Math Methods course. I didn't actually teach this lesson, but I did learn a lot during the process of developing it. For this lesson, I tried to come up with a unique activity to teach students how to graph linear equations. I incorporated the Desmos graphing calculator as a way to visually show students how the graphs of lines connect with equations. As I developed this lesson, I struggled to know exactly how long each activity would take. I did my best to estimate the amount of time and I planned for extra activities in case things run short.

Using Models for Addition
2nd Grade Math |
I developed this lesson during my K-8 Math Methods course. I didn't actually teach this lesson, but I did learn a lot during the process of developing it. For this lesson, I tried to come up with an activity to give students hands-on experience with manipulatives. I used the Fish Talk Learning math curriculum as a guide to create this lesson. The curriculum really helped me think about appropriate activities. I tried to launch the lesson with a creative story about how I used adding in my everyday life.

Identifying Shapes
3rd Grade Math |
I developed this lesson during my ELED 395 practicum. For the practicum I spent 40 hours in a 3rd grade classroom. The classroom I was in utilized Mass Customized Learning (MCL). Creating a lesson for this environment was new for me. In the lesson plan, I included details about what each group of students was working on. The lesson is divided into sections with specific objectives for each small group and the activity they are working on.
